Minnesota Twins right-hander Zebby Matthews was activated from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday’s game against the Colorado Rockies in Denver.
Matthews has been on the injured list with a strained right shoulder since June 8. He made one rehab start with Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, striking out nine and allowing one hit over four scoreless innings against Iowa.
Matthews, 25, owns a 1-1 record with a 5.21 ERA in four starts this season since being called up to the Twins on May 18.
He is 2-5 with a 6.19 ERA in 13 career appearances (all starts) with Minnesota. He has yet to face the Rockies in his career.
In a corresponding move, the Twins optioned right-hander Travis Adams, 25, to St. Paul. He is 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA in three relief appearances this season.
