The Minnesota Twins placed right-hander Joe Ryan on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left groin strain and recalled left-hander Dallas Keuchel from Triple-A St. Paul.
Ryan, 27, gave up seven runs on nine hits over four innings Wednesday to the St. Louis Cardinals. The outing included four home runs allowed by Ryan.
Ryan is 9-8 with a 4.43 ERA in 22 starts this season and is 24-17 with a 3.96 ERA in 54 starts for the Twins over the past three seasons.
Keuchel, 35, signed a minor league deal with the Twins on June 22 and bypassed an out-clause in his contract last month. He is set to make his Twins debut after going 1-0 with a 1.12 ERA in six starts (32 innings) for St. Paul.
Over 11 major league seasons, the 2015 American League Cy Young Award winner is 101-91 with a 3.98 ERA for the Houston Astros (2012-18), Atlanta Braves (2019), Chicago White Sox (2020-22), Arizona Cardinals (2022) and Texas Rangers (2022).
