Twins place Astudillo (hamstring) on 10-day IL

The Minnesota Twins placed Willians Astudillo on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left hamstring strain.

Astudillo suffered the injury while running the bases during Saturday afternoon’s 9-2 victory against the Baltimore Orioles.

Off to a hot start, the 27-year-old Astudillo is batting .327 with two homers, four doubles, seven RBIs and 11 runs scored in 16 games this season.

Primarily a catcher, the versatile Astudillo also has started games this season at first base, third base and in right field.

He made his major league debut in 2017 and batted .355 with three homers and 21 RBIs in 29 games.

The Twins recalled outfielder Jake Cave from Triple-A Rochester to fill the vacancy on the 25-man roster.

Cave, 26, has appeared in 12 games this season for Minnesota and is hitting .233 with three RBIs.
