Tigers OF Stewart enters concussion protocol

Detroit Tigers left fielder Christin Stewart has entered the concussion protocol after colliding with the outfield wall Monday night in Anaheim.

Manager Ron Gardenhire confirmed Tuesday that Stewart was headed to the seven-day injured list.

Stewart, 25, departed Detroit’s 7-2 victory against the Los Angeles Angels after slamming into the fence while chasing Kole Calhoun’s fifth-inning solo home run.

Stewart is batting .239 with seven homers and 33 RBIs in 81 games this season.

No corresponding transaction was immediately announced, but Victor Reyes was expected to replace Stewart in the lineup for Tuesday night’s game against the Angels.
