Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story left Friday’s home game against the San Diego Padres in the eighth inning after a ground ball hit him in the forehead.
Story, who had three hits including a double in the game, tried to field Hunter Renfroe’s grounder to lead off the inning but it deflected off the side of his glove and hit him above his left eye. He was attended to by one of the trainers and left the field under his own power.
Nolan Arenado entered the game at third base, Ryan McMahon moved from third to second base, and Brendan Rodgers moved from second to short.
