Southern California will hire Cincinnati athletic director Mike Bohn to the same post, according to multiple reports.
USC was in search of a new AD after Lynn Swann abruptly resigned from the post on Sept. 9. Dave Roberts had served as the school’s interim AD.
One of Bohn’s first major decisions on the job figures to center around head football coach Clay Helton. The Trojans are in first place in the Pac-12’s South Conference with a 4-1 record heading into Saturday’s game at home against No. 11 Oregon, and are 5-3 overall. USC finished 5-7 under Helton last season.
Bohn hired Luke Fickell as the head football coach at Cincinnati before the 2017 season. The Bearcats went 11-2 last season and won the Military Bowl. They are ranked No. 17 this season with a 6-1 record.
Other reported candidates for the USC AD post included Clemson’s Dan Radakovich, Oklahoma’s Joe Castiglione, Northwestern’s Jim Phillips, Texas’ Chris Del Conte and Virginia Tech’s Whit Babcock.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, senior associate athletic director Maggie McKinley is expected to take over as interim AD at Cincinnati.
Bohn also has served in AD roles for Idaho, San Diego State and Colorado. He was fired by Colorado — also a Pac-12 school — in 2013.
