Reports: Urias expected to return to Dodgers on Tuesday

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias is expected to return from administrative leave Tuesday, eight days after he was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, multiple outlets reported Monday.

Urias was arrested May 13 following an alleged dispute with a female acquaintance in the parking lot of a Los Angeles-area shopping mall.

Reports indicated that the woman went to the ground at some point during what was described as an argument, but both Urias and his female companion denied that a physical altercation took place. Urias reportedly spent the night in jail and was released last Tuesday on $20,000 bond.

A report from TMZ Sports last week credited “multiple law enforcement sources” who indicated the case against Urias was “weak” based on the evidence, which was said to be security-camera footage of the incident.

Urias, 22, is 2-2 with a 3.18 ERA this season, moving to the bullpen after four starts to open the season. The Dodgers are using him as a reliever for a stretch to maintain his innings count with a plan of making him a starter again later in the season.

After an off day Monday, the Dodgers will open a two-game series Tuesday at Tampa Bay.
