The Atlanta Falcons moved quickly to replace departing tight end Austin Hooper, acquiring former first-round draft pick Hayden Hurst from the Baltimore Ravens, according to multiple reports on Monday.
The Falcons sent 2020 second- and fifth-round draft picks to Baltimore in exchange for Hurst and a 2020 fourth-round pick, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Earlier in the day, Hooper, a free agent, agreed on a deal with the Cleveland Browns that will make him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, according to multiple outlets.
The Falcons announced on Monday they released veteran tight end Luke Stocker, pending a physical, leaving them thin at the position.
The Ravens made Hurst, a South Carolina product, the No. 25 overall pick in 2018. In two seasons in Baltimore, the 26-year-old played in 28 games (four starts), catching 43 passes for 512 yards and three touchdowns.
