Reports: Bettor can turn 89-cent bet into $500K on MNF

Monday night’s game between the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins isn’t the most appealing matchup on the NFL schedule, but there is one bettor out there extremely interested in the game.

According to a post on Reddit and reported on by multiple outlets, a bettor placed 89 cents on a 20-team football parlay this weekend — college and NFL — and entered Monday night 19-0.

Should the Redskins win the Monday night game, the bet would pay a reported $500,000.

Among the games the bettor reportedly hit were Ohio State covering a 39-point spread, Alabama giving 38 1/2 and Morgan State getting 49 1/2 against Army. The Black Knights “only” won by 31.

There was one problem with the bet, however. Of all the games picked, the one with the longest odds was the one played Monday. The bettor took the Redskins to win straight up, without any point spread. At halftime, the Bears led 28-3.

There is no word on whether the bettor hedged the bet before kickoff (betting a substantial sum on the Bears to win so they are guaranteed to win money regardless of the game’s outcome).
