The Philadelphia Phillies signed right-hander Blake Parker to a major league contract Tuesday, The Athletic reported.
The Minnesota Twins designated the 34-year-old reliever for assignment last week, and he opted for free agency rather than reporting to Triple-A Rochester.
Parker was 1-2 with a 4.21 ERA and 10 saves in 37 games with the Twins this season, striking out 34, walking 16 and allowing seven homers in 36 1/3 innings.
In his last appearance with Minnesota on July 23, Parker allowed four runs on three hits and retired only one batter in a 14-12 loss to the New York Yankees.
He is 9-9 with a 3.42 ERA and 34 saves in 266 career games since 2012 with the Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, Yankees, Los Angeles Angels and Twins.
