Report: LSU courting Lane Kiffin, flies family to Baton Rouge

Competing with SEC rival Florida to lure coach Lane Kiffin away from Ole Miss, LSU sent a private plane to Oxford, Miss., on Monday to bring members of Kiffin’s family to Baton Rouge, La., for a tour of the city, The Advocate reported.

Kiffin’s former wife and the mother of his children, Layla Kiffin, was on the plane from Oxford, per a LouisianaSports.net report. Layla Kiffin reportedly toured Gainesville, Fla., on Sunday as the Gators continue their pursuit of the Ole Miss coach.

According to a CBS Sports report Monday, those close to the Ole Miss program believe the 50-year-old Kiffin is leaning toward leaving the school despite the fact the Rebels (10-1, 6-1 SEC) will likely be in the College Football Playoff. Per the report, questions and concerns involving the infrastructure at both LSU and Florida remain within the Kiffin camp.

As a college head coach, Kiffin is 115-53 (.685 winning percentage), including 54-19 (.740) with Ole Miss. Entering a bye week, the Rebels visit Mississippi State on Nov. 28 in the annual Egg Bowl.

Amid disappointing campaigns, LSU (6-4, 3-4) fired Brian Kelly last month, a week after Florida (3-7, 2-5) relieved Billy Napier of his duties.
