The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to hire former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter as the passing game coordinator under new head coach Doug Pederson, NFL Network reported Wednesday.
Cooter, 37, served as a consultant to Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni last season.
Cooter was the offensive coordinator in Detroit from 2015-18 but wasn’t kept on by then new head coach Matt Patricia for the 2019 season. Cooter went on to be running backs coach under Adam Gase with the New York Jets from 2019-20.
Cooter would join Mike McCoy to support Pederson’s offensive staff. McCoy is the new quarterbacks coach in charge of grooming second-year QB Trevor Lawrence. Press Taylor reportedly is in line to be offensive coordinator, though Pederson will call the plays.
The Jaguars reportedly are set to make Mike Caldwell their new defensive coordinator.
