The San Francisco Giants reportedly called up outfielder Mac Williamson on Tuesday, one day after he smashed three home runs in a game for Triple-A Sacramento.
NBC Sports Bay Area said the 28-year-old Williamson would be on the active roster when the Giants take on the Colorado Rockies in Denver on Tuesday.
Including his three homers Monday night against Reno, Williamson is batting .378 with nine homers, 22 RBIs and 23 runs in 23 games for the River Cats. He has a .459 on-base percentage and is slugging .756.
This will be the fifth straight year that Williamson has spent time with San Francisco. He has appeared in 120 games since 2015, batting just .222 with 13 homers and 33 RBIs.
Williamson slugged his way into the Giants’ lineup last season, too. Called up on April 20, 2018, he hit three homers in his first five games before suffering a concussion when he tripped over a bullpen pitching mound while trying to catch a fly ball.
San Francisco designated Williamson for assignment at the end of spring training this year, but he cleared waivers and returned to Triple-A.
