Report: Cardinals RB Johnson likely to miss two games

The Arizona Cardinals listed running back David Johnson as inactive for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that he’ll also miss Thursday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Johnson is battling an ankle injury and missed the entire week of practices. He had been a game-time decision for Sunday.

With Johnson out, second-year back Chase Edmonds will be the primary ball carrier. Edmonds had a career-best game by rushing for 126 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries in last Sunday’s win over the New York Giants.

Johnson has rushed for 300 yards and two touchdowns, and caught 30 passes for 315 yards and three scores.

Arizona also ruled out backup running back D.J. Foster due to a hamstring injury.

Earlier this week, the Cardinals signed veteran backs Alfred Morris and Zach Zenner to provide depth, though Morris is inactive this week.
