Report: Braves, 2B Albies agree to extension


The Atlanta Braves and 22-year-old second baseman Ozzie Albies have agreed to a contract extension, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported Thursday.

Terms were not disclosed. Albies is playing this season on a one-year deal worth $575,000.

Albies made the National League All-Star team in his first full season in 2018. He batted .261 with 24 homers, 72 RBIs and 105 runs scored in 158 games.

Albies entered Thursday night’s game against the New York Mets with a .364 average through 11 games.

Earlier this month, the Braves signed 21-year-old outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. to an eight-year, $100 million contract.
