Red Sox UT Lin lands on IL after awkward slide

The Boston Red Sox placed utility man Tzu-Wei Lin on the 10-day injured list after he sprained his left knee Friday while sliding into second base.

Lin, 25, left the game after sliding awkwardly into the bag in the second inning of a 6-1 victory against the White Sox in Chicago.

Lin is batting .200 with two doubles and one RBI in 20 at-bats with Boston. He has started games at second base, shortstop and center field.

The Red Sox also activated infielder Eduardo Nunez, who had been on the IL since April 19 with a mid-back strain. He was 2-for-15 in four rehab games at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Nunez, 31, is batting .159 for Boston this season with five RBIs in 17 games.
