The Boston Red Sox reinstated right-hander Heath Hembree from the 10-day injured list Thursday and optioned right-hander Trevor Kelley to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Hembree was placed in the IL on June 14 with a right elbow extensor strain. The 30-year old was 1-0 with a 2.51 ERA over 31 appearances this season, giving up just one earned run over his last 15 1/3 innings.
Kelley, 25, made his major league debut Tuesday, giving up three runs in an inning of work. At Pawtucket he has a 0.96 ERA over 28 appearances.
