Ravens S Jefferson tears ACL, season over

Baltimore Ravens safety Tony Jefferson tore the ACL in his left knee on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season, head coach John Harbaugh told reporters after Sunday’s win in Pittsburgh.

Harbaugh said there is “probably more” damage in the knee in addition to the ACL.

Jefferson was carted off the field in the fourth quarter after getting hurt while bringing down Pittsburgh tight end Nick Vannett. The team ruled him doubtful, and he did not return.

Jefferson, 27, is in his third season with the Ravens after signing a four-year, $34 million contract as a free agent in March of 2017. He had 20 tackles and two passes defensed in four games entering Sunday’s win, in which he had one tackle and a pass defensed.

In seven career seasons with Baltimore and the Arizona Cardinals, Jefferson has 451 tackles, four interceptions and 22 pass breakups.
