The Texas Rangers placed outfielder Willie Calhoun on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a fracture of the ulna bone in his left forearm.
The Rangers recalled outfielder Jason Martin from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.
Calhoun, 26, was hit by a pitch from Kris Bubic in the second inning of Texas’ 8-0 win over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday. He ran the bases before being lifted from the game in the following inning.
Calhoun is batting .254 with five homers and 19 RBIs in 59 games this season. He is a career .248 hitter with 30 homers and 95 RBIs in 219 games with the Rangers.
Martin, 25, batted .171 with one homer and four RBIs in 20 games earlier this season with Texas. He is a .188 hitter with one homer and six RBIs in 47 career games with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Rangers.
