The Texas Rangers placed outfielder Joey Gallo on the 10-day injured list on Sunday because of a strained left oblique muscle.
In a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled outfielder Delino DeShields from Triple-A Nashville.
Gallo, 25, came out of Saturday’s game against Kansas City in the fifth inning while he was at the plate with a 3-2 count.
On the season, Gallo is batting .276 with 17 home runs and 41 RBI in 50 games. He leads the American League in OPS (1.074) and slugging percentage (.653), and he’s second in walks with 42.
DeShields, 26, will be making his third appearance on the big-league roster this season, and he’s batting .182 with one home run and 10 RBIs in 32 games.
