Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder Corey Dickerson has an injured right shoulder and might miss at least a month of playing time, according to a report Thursday at DKPittsburghSports.com.
On Twitter, Pirates beat writer John Perrotto wrote that, according to multiple sources, Dickerson (strained shoulder) was expected to go on the injured list before Thursday night’s home game against the Cincinnati Reds. He pinch-hit in the eighth inning of Wednesday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Dickerson, 29, who is batting .154 with one home run and two RBIs in 13 at-bats over four games this season, would be the third Pirates player to land on the injured list. Gregory Polanco and Lonnie Chisenhall are currently on the 10-day IL.
To take Dickerson’s place on the roster, Pittsburgh reportedly will recall Jason Martin from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Dickerson batted .300 in 2019 and won a Gold Glove. In his seventh major league season, he previously played for the Colorado Rockies (2013-15) and Tampa Bay Rays (2016-17). His career batting average is .283, with 104 home runs and 313 RBIs.
