Penn State defensive end Jayson Oweh will enter the 2021 NFL Draft, he announced Saturday.
Oweh was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2018 from the Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., ranked No. 4 overall at his position, according to 247Sports.
“I take pride in being part of such an amazing school and I will always represent Penn State to the best of my abilities. The Penn State tradition has so much motivation, pushing any player above and beyond their own years of experience,” he posted to Twitter.
“After careful and precise consideration with my family and those closest to me, I have officially decided to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft.”
Oweh, a 6-foot-5 redshirt sophomore, had 38 tackles on the season. He missed the final two games with an undisclosed injury.
Recent mock drafts project Oweh and a pair of teammates — linebacker Micah Parsons and tight end Pat Freiermuth — as potential first-round draft picks.
Parsons opted out of the 2020 season. He is considered to be a top 10 selection.
