Penn State secured a three-star defensive end for its class of 2021 as Rodney McGraw took to Twitter on Sunday to announce that he’s flipping his commitment from Indiana to the Nittany Lions.
“Recent events have led me to re-evaluate my opportunities and take a closer look at some great programs,” McGraw tweeted. “… I’m officially committed to Penn State. Thank you to Coach (James) Franklin for the opportunity to play in front of the best fans in college football! Recruitment officially shut down! Excited to call Happy Valley home!”
McGraw, of Elkhart, Ind., is considered the seventh-best prospect in the state and the No. 26 weak-side defensive end in the country, according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings.
The 6-foot-5 junior committed to Indiana in January and was the Hoosiers’ first verbal commitment for 2021. Indiana has undergone changes since McGraw committed. Defensive line coach Mark Hagen went to Texas and was replaced by Kevin Peoples, and the strength and conditioning staff underwent changes, as well.
Penn State, which offered McGraw a scholarship in September, now boasts the nation’s 13th best class for 2021, according to 247 Sports.
