New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday had surgery Tuesday to repair a core muscle injury and will miss the rest of the season, the team announced.
Holiday has not played since March 6, missing the last eight games with what the team called a lower abdominal strain.
The surgery was performed in Philadelphia, and Holiday will not resume basketball activities for at least six weeks.
Holiday, 28, averaged a career-high 21.2 points, 7.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 67 games this season, his 10th in the NBA and sixth with the Pelicans.
He scored his 10,000th career point in a 128-115 win against the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 23.
A first-round pick (17th overall) by Philadelphia in 2009, Holiday made the All-Star team with the 76ers in 2012-13 and earned NBA All-Defensive honors in 2017-18.
