Orioles activate two right-handers amid flurry of moves

The Baltimore Orioles bolstered their active roster with three moves Friday in advance of a three-game home series against the Cleveland Indians.

Right-hander Hunter Harvey was activated from the 60-day injured list while right-hander Travis Lakins and infielder Ramon Urias were recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.

Right-hander Shawn Armstrong and left-hander Brandon Waddell were designated for assignment while infielder Pat Valaika was placed on the bereavement list.

In addition, infielder Domingo Leyba was claimed by the Arizona Diamondbacks after he was designated for assignment Wednesday. Baltimore optioned Leyba to Norfolk.

Harvey, 26, strained his left oblique during spring training and has not pitched this season. He has 17 games of major league experience over the previous two seasons, going 1-2 with the Orioles while posting a 3.00 ERA.

Waddell, 27, had just one scoreless appearance with the Orioles this season. He has a 6.48 ERA with three teams over seven appearances in the last two seasons.
