Ole Miss-Baylor change date of opener

Baylor and Ole Miss moved the Texas Kickoff opening week game back one day to Sept. 6.

The game in Houston will now be the featured contest on Sunday but remains as part of the Labor Day Weekend slate and will be broadcast nationally.

Both programs are under the direction of new head coaches. Lane Kiffin took over at Ole Miss in a return to the Southeastern Conference. He was previously offensive coordinator at Alabama and prior to that was head coach at Tennessee and Southern Cal.

Baylor lost Matt Rhule to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and hired LSU assistant Dave Aranda to be a first-time head coach. Prior to serving as LSU defensive coordinator, Aranda had stops in the same position at Wisconsin, Utah State and Hawaii.
