Ohio State DE Young joins Heisman race

A national television audience saw Ohio State defensive end Chase Young turn in a dominant performance — five tackles for loss and four sacks — in the Buckeyes’ 38-7 win over No. 13 Wisconsin on Saturday, and Las Vegas took note.

Young, a junior, has made his debut on the list of Heisman Trophy favorites, fifth in the odds behind a quartet of elite quarterbacks.

The Las Vegas Westgate SuperBook lists Young at +2000, following LSU’s Joe Burrow (even), Jalen Hurts of Oklahoma (+175), Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama (+400) and Young’s teammate, Justin Fields (+1000). Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins is next at +4000.

FanDuel also added Young to its top five at +1900, trailing Burrow (+150), Hurts (+260), Tagovailoa (+270) and Fields (+800). The next-closest on the list are Dobbins and running back Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin at +5000.

Young leads the country in sacks with 13.5 — four better than Boise State’s Curtis Weaver — and is tied for second with 15.5 tackles for loss, behind DeAngelo Malone of Western Kentucky (16).
