Notre Dame running back Kedren Young will miss the upcoming season and tight end Kevin Bauman has opted to retire due to their respective knee injuries.
Young sustained a torn ACL in his right knee during a recent practice, the team announced Saturday. He had 21 carries for 116 rushing yards and a touchdown as a freshman last season for the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame is expected to lean on running backs Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price and Aneyas Williams in 2025.
Bauman, a sixth-year senior, announced on Instagram that he will retire after injuring his articular cartilage in his left knee.
He had an 8-yard touchdown reception as his lone catch in 14 games last season.
Injuries have plagued Bauman. He was limited to four games in 2021 due to a fractured fibula. In 2022, his season ended after just three games due to an ACL injury. He missed the 2023 season while also recovering from an ACL injury.
