Washington Nationals first baseman Matt Adams left Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after being struck by a pitch on his right foot.
He was hit by right-hander Walker Buehler’s 89-mph slider during his second-inning at-bat and walked slowly to first base.
Adams remained in the game after a visit from the team trainer, but later was thrown out at home trying to score on Brian Dozier’s double.
After striking out in the fourth inning, Adams was replaced at first base by Howie Kendrick to start the fifth.
Adams, 30, entered Sunday’s game batting .241 with 16 homers and 43 RBIs in 75 games.
