Miami CB Bandy declares for NFL draft

Miami junior cornerback Trajan Bandy announced on Friday that he will bypass his senior season in favor of entering the NFL draft.

Bandy made his announcement on Instagram one day after the Hurricanes were blanked 14-0 by Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl.

“My plan has always been to play four years in college and graduate, but life has a way of throwing you off your plans,” Bandy wrote. “Due to a number of unforeseen off the field circumstances and discussions with my family, I am foregoing my senior season and entering the 2020 NFL Draft.”

Bandy didn’t divulge what type of circumstances influenced the decision but the Miami Herald reported it was family financial and health issues.

Bandy had 29 tackles and three sacks this season. He didn’t intercept a pass in 13 games. Overall, he had four interceptions, nine sacks and 90 tackles in three seasons with the Hurricanes.

The 5-foot-9 Bandy is projected to be selected on the third and final day of the draft.
