The Miami Marlins signed veteran left-hander Ross Detwiler to a one-year contract.
Detwiler, 34, worked exclusively as a reliever for the Chicago White Sox last season, but he has bounced between bullpen and starting roles throughout his career.
In 16 games for Chicago in 2020, Detwiler went 1-1 with a 3.20 ERA.
Originally selected by the Washington Nationals with the No. 6 overall pick of the 2007 draft, Detwiler went 20-32 over seven seasons with the Nationals, starting 69 of his 132 appearances.
Detwiler has bounced around since leaving Washington, with stints with the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners preceding his time with the White Sox.
Overall, Detwiler has a 27-48 record with a 4.56 ERA in 224 games (95 starts).
Left-hander Stephen Tarpley was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
