LSU redshirt freshman defensive end Ray Parker was indefinitely suspended for violation of team rules, coach Ed Orgeron announced on Wednesday.
Parker was arrested early Wednesday morning in Baton Rouge, La., on charges of battery of a dating partner and felony criminal damage to property, according to reports. He was taken to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Reports stated that an affidavit said Parker shoved the woman into a dresser around 1 a.m. CT, and damaged other items by throwing them around the room. Parker reportedly shattered the woman’s iPhone.
The woman told police that the push into the dresser left her with a mark on her hip. The responding officer later observed a scrape on her hip.
Parker wasn’t listed on the LSU roster as of Wednesday night.
Parker was part of LSU’s 2019 recruiting class after choosing the Tigers over Ole Miss and Tennessee. He played tight end and offensive tackle at Ruston (La.) High and moved to defense after arriving at LSU.
LSU opens its season on Sept. 26 against visiting Mississippi State.
