Detroit Lions right guard T.J. Lang sustained a concussion during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Lang appeared to be on the receiving end of a helmet-to-helmet hit by Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith on a 1-yard run by LeGarrette Blount.
The 31-year-old Lang needed assistance to get off the field and was taken directly to the locker room. The team later announced that Lang was out for the remainder of the game with a concussion.
Lang was a Pro Bowl selection in 2016 for the Green Packers before signing a three-year contact with the Lions in the offseason.
Kenny Wiggins entered the game to replace Lang, who sustained his second concussion in as many seasons.
The 30-year-old Wiggins, who is listed at 6-foot-6 and 330 pounds, is seeing action for the first time since making a spot start in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers. Lang missed that game due to a back injury suffered toward the conclusion of the season opener against the New York Jets.
Lang was part of an offensive line that helped rookie running back Kerryon Johnson rush for 101 yards on 16 carries in the Lions’ 26-10 victory over the New England Patriots last week. That ended the team’s drought of going without a 100-yard rusher since Reggie Bush reached triple digits on the ground on Thanksgiving Day in 2013.
