Lions downgrade LT Taylor Decker, 2 others, to out vs. Chiefs

Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker has been downgraded from questionable to out for Sunday night’s game against the host Kansas City Chiefs.

Decker did not participate in practice all week as he nursed a shoulder injury that kept him out of last Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Lions (4-1) also downgraded his backup, Giovanni Manu (knee), and cornerback Avonte Maddox (hamstring) from questionable to out against the Chiefs (2-3).

Decker, 32, was placed on the active/physically unable to perform list in July as he recovered from offseason shoulder surgery.

A Pro Bowl selection last season, Decker has started all 130 of his games with Detroit since arriving as a first-round draft pick (16th overall) in 2016.

Dan Skipper, who was elevated from the practice squad on Wednesday, could be an option to replace Decker.

Manu, 24, has played in four games (one start) this season.

Maddox, 29, has six tackles in five games during his first season with the Lions. He played his previous seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
