Kentucky’s 10-3 record and a Citrus Bowl win earned head coach Mark Stoops a raise.
Stoops signed a contract amendment on Thursday that will increase his pay by $500,000 annually for every year remaining on his contract, which expires on June 30, 2025. The length of the contract did not change.
He also will receive a $250,000 bonus for each win, beginning with the ninth win of the season. The contract includes a number of other bonuses, including winning the SEC championship game ($200,000), reaching the College Football Playoff semifinals ($300,000), reaching the national championship game ($400,000) and winning a national championship ($500,000).
The 2018 season was Kentucky’s best in 41 years. The Wildcats are the only team in the nation to improve on its record from the previous season in each of the past six years, when Stoops arrived. The Wildcats were 2-10 that year and 34-29 since.
Stoops, 52, was named SEC Coach of the Year in 2018.
