Jets LT Mekhi Becton evaluated for head injury

New York Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton left Tuesday’s joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles after a head-to-head collision.

Jets coach Robert Saleh said Becton was being evaluated for a head injury. Several reporters noted that Becton appeared woozy and vomited on the sideline after the incident.

Becton, 22, was the Jets’ first-round draft pick (11th overall) in 2020 and started 13 of his 14 games as a rookie.

New York plays its final preseason game Friday against the visiting Eagles. If Becton were to enter the concussion protocol, his availability for that game would be doubtful.

The Jets open the regular season on Sept. 12 against the host Carolina Panthers.
