No. 15 Notre Dame will be without starting right tackle Robert Hainsey for the rest of the season because of a broken ankle, coach Brian Kelly said Sunday.
It’s the second blow to the Irish’s offensive line in as many weeks. Starting right guard Tommy Kraemer suffered a sprained MCL on Oct. 26 and could be out for the rest of the regular season, which ends at Stanford on Nov. 30.
Hainsey, a junior, has made 22 consecutive starts.
Kraemer was replaced in the starting lineup by Trevor Ruhland in Saturday’s 21-20 win over Virginia Tech, while Josh Lugg filled in at right tackle after Hainsey went down.
The Irish did get good news Sunday as Ohio State transfer defensive back Isaiah Pryor announced he will attend Notre Dame. Pryor, a four-star recruit in the 2017 class, will have two years of eligibility remaining, beginning next season after his expected graduation from Ohio State.
He played in four games this season — allowing him to redshirt — with three tackles. Pryor had 31 stops and an interception for the Buckeyes last season.
