Aggies set for unbeaten Kentucky

The Texas A&M Aggies (3-2, 1-1 SEC) face the No. 13 Kentucky Wildcats (5-0, 3-0 SEC) in a crucial SEC showdown.

Week 5 saw the Aggies get off to a hot start against the middling Arkansas Razorbacks, going up 14-0 in the first quarter. However, the Razorbacks (1-4) hung around longer than Aggie fans likely expected and Texas A&M ended up hanging on to a 24-17 win.

As for Kentucky, the Wildcats are already winners of three SEC games, all by double digits — 27-16 over No. 22 Florida, 28-7 over Mississippi State and 24-10 over South Carolina.

Of course, much of the focus on the Aggies has been on Jimbo Fisher’s facemask grab of linebacker Tyrel Dodson during the Arkansas game.

“Listen, I was trying to get a young man’s attention is all we were doing,” Fisher said at his weekly press conference. “I didn’t grab it, I didn’t jerk it … football is an emotional game. He was caught up in the emotions of the game and I was trying to get him to listen up.”

Dodson backed up his head coach’s actions.

“I’m in,” Dodson tweeted. “Coach Fisher is an amazing coach, he did the right thing. I let my emotions get the best of me at that certain moment.”

Now the focus for Texas A&M shifts to Saturday’s matchup with one of the SEC’s four remaining undefeated teams.

Dodson, beyond last week’s controversy, will be one to watch because Kentucky has one of the most dangerous, methodical offenses in the nation. Dodson will be among the chief defenders tasked with stymieing the Wildcats’ attack.

“I’m looking forward to a tough, physical game,” Dodson said. “This is why you come to Texas A&M. You come to the SEC to play games like this.”
