Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona underwent eye surgery Thursday, skipped his usual pregame press conference and might miss the home game against the Houston Astros, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
The newspaper called the unplanned surgery “minor.”
Bench coach Brad Mills would fill in if Francona, 60, is unavailable.
Cleveland was set to take on the Astros on Thursday night while leading the American League wild-card race, 2 1/2 games back of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.
