Football coach Clay Helton, men’s basketball coach Andy Enfield and athletic director Mike Bohn will give back a combined $1 million in compensation to the University of Southern California, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
The reported pay return comes with the university bracing for huge losses due to the coronavirus pandemic.
USC president Carol L. Folt took a 20 percent salary cut last month when the university also announced that senior leadership officials would take 10 percent cuts. Folt also recently said that the university faces an operational deficit of between $300 million and $500 million through June 2021.
It wasn’t known how much Helton, Enfield and Bohn gave back on an individual basis.
As a private university, USC isn’t required to divulge salary figures of employees, including coaches and administrators.
However, Helton made at least $3.2 million last season, according to the USA Today football coaches salary database. Enfield made at least $2.79 million in the recently concluded season, according to USA Today.
Bohn was hired in November, and his USC compensation package remains unknown. Bohn reportedly made nearly $605,000 in 2018 while serving as athletic director at the University of Cincinnati.
