Heisman Trophy odds swing, Lawrence distances from Tua

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is a huge favorite over Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy.

FanDuel Sportsbook installed Lawrence and Tagovailoa as co-favorites in April. But Lawrence’s since rose from +250 to +200, while Tagovailoa is falling back to the pack and at +350.

Former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts was a comfortable third in the opening odds, but the public has not supported the notion of a third straight Heisman Trophy-winning Oklahoma quarterback (Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray). Hurts will start for the Sooners, but his Heisman chances have been bet down from +1100 to +2000.

Hurts fell behind Ohio State’s Justin Fields (+1200), while Hurts now has a ton of company — all quarterbacks — on the +2000 line: Nebraska’s Adrian Martinez, Georgia’s Jake Fromm, Oregon’s Justin Herbert and Texas’ Sam Ehlinger.

PointsBet also has Fields third behind the SEC quarterbacks and ahead of Hurts. Hurts is +1200 at PointsBet and Fields is at +1100.

Georgia running back D’Andre Swift is the top non-quarterback in the Heisman odds at FanDuel (+2500) and Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor is the top non-quarterback at Pointsbet (+1800).
