Former UGA safety Rambo facing felony rape charge


Former Georgia assistant Bacarri Rambo was arrested Monday night and faces a felony rape charge stemming from an incident early Saturday in Athens, Ga., the Banner-Herald reported.

Rambo, who played at Georgia and was an intern and graduate assistant on the staff according to the Bulldogs’ spring practice media guide, is no longer a member of the coaching or support staff, according to the university.

The police incident report created at 1:17 a.m. Saturday included officers responding to a call at an apartment building where Rambo is a tenant, according to public records. The Banner-Herald reported the incident involves an alleged victim who is a 21-year-old female.

Rambo, who turns 30 later this month, was a three-year starter at Georgia and spent four seasons in the NFL.

He played at Georgia from 2009-12 and was named an All-America selection in 2011. Rambo has a share of the school’s record with 16 career interceptions.

Rambo was a sixth-round pick in 2013 by the Washington Redskins and also played for the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.
