Atlanta running back Devonta Freeman is set to return for Thursday night’s game against the New Orleans Saints, while Falcons’ receiver Julio Jones is questionable.
Freeman has missed two games since suffering a foot injury in a 26-9 upset of the Saints on Nov. 10. Coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday on a conference call with reporters that Freeman “looks great.”
Freeman rushed 10 times for 38 yards and caught three passes for 10 yards and did not play in the second half against New Orleans. Freeman has rushed for 371 yards and no touchdowns in nine starts this season, adding 38 catches for 282 yards and three scores.
Jones suffered a shoulder injury last Sunday. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Jones, who is dealing with an AC joint sprain, was “optimistic” about being able to play.
Tight end Aaron Hooper, who suffered a sprained MCL in the first meeting against the Saints, has been ruled out. Hooper has 56 receptions for 608 yards and six touchdowns in nine games.
The Saints (9-2) can clinch their third consecutive NFC South title by beating the host Falcons (3-8).
