Falcons place P Bosher on IR, sign Wile

The Atlanta Falcons placed veteran punter Matt Bosher on injured reserve on Saturday due to a groin injury.

Bosher, 31, will miss at least the next eight weeks. He was averaging 41.9 yards on nine attempts this season.

Matt Wile was signed to handle the punting for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.

Wile, 27, filled in for Bosher during Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts and his lone attempt went for 39 yards. He was the Minnesota Vikings’ punter last season and averaged 45.2 yards on 72 punts.

Bosher has spent nine seasons as Atlanta’s punter with a career average of 45.7 yards. He initially hurt the groin in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Atlanta also released offensive lineman John Wetzel on Saturday.
