Ex-UCF, Ohio State DT Barrow transfers to Rutgers

Former Ohio State defensive tackle Malik Barrow will transfer to Rutgers, reuniting him with coach Greg Schiano.

A Florida native, Barrow was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2016. He appeared in two games at Ohio State, however, and was medically disqualified in 2018 after suffering a third major knee injury.

He transferred to UCF but played in just four games, recording two tackles, before entering his name in the transfer portal in October.

On Sunday, he announced via Twitter that he had chosen Rutgers. As a graduate transfer, he can play immediately for the Scarlet Knights in 2020 and has one year of eligibility remaining. Because of injuries, however, he could appeal to the NCAA for a sixth season.

Rutgers hired Schiano earlier this month. He was Ohio State’s defensive coordinator when Barrow was with the Buckeyes.

Barrow becomes Rutgers’ ninth commit since Schiano’s hiring
