Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Zach Brown wasn’t shy about sharing his feelings on former teammate Kirk Cousins ahead of Sunday’s game against the host Minnesota Vikings.
“Cousins, I think every defense is going to want that guy to throw the ball,” the 29-year-old Brown said on Friday, per ESPN. “For me, that’s probably the weakest part of their offense is him. Everything else is good. They’ve got a good running game, probably one of the best in the league. They have real good receivers. You just want them to pass the ball. You want Kirk Cousins to get it in his hands.”
Brown and Cousins were teammates with the Washington Redskins in 2017 before the latter signed a three-year, $84 million deal with the Vikings.
“I realized when I was in Washington, he was kind of careless with the ball. But at the same time, hey, you make the bed you sleep in,” Brown said. “I was at the Redskins with him so I know about him. That’s my viewpoint on him.”
Cousins threw a career-best 30 touchdown passes in his first season with Minnesota in 2018, however he was also involved in 15 turnovers (10 interceptions, five fumbles).
The 31-year-old Cousins has seen the Vikings utilize the running game a bit more this season. He is averaging just 208.2 yards per game in 2019.
