Florida State will play an unexpected home game Saturday, with incoming Hurricane Dorian forcing the season opener against Boise State to relocate.
Originally slated to be played at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville at 7 p.m. ET, the game will now take place at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee with a noon ET start time.
Forecasts on Thursday morning said Dorian could intensify into a Category 4 hurricane and potentially make landfall Sunday along the east coast of Florida, or perhaps Georgia or North Carolina, depending on the track.
Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for most counties on Florida’s east coast, including Duval, where Jacksonville is located.
During training camp, the Seminoles were forced to make adjustments on several occasions because of weather.
“I think our guys are prepared for sudden change, we’ve had it throughout training camp,” coach Willie Taggart said.
Broncos coach Bryan Harsin told reporters that the site is irrelevant for his team.
“To me, it doesn’t matter (where we play),” Harsin told reporters in Boise, Idaho. “We’ll play in a parking lot. We’ll do whatever. We just want to go play. These guys have been working extremely hard. The excitement and the game … it doesn’t matter where it’s at.”
