Dolphins’ Wake (knee) to miss Sunday’s game

The Miami Dolphins have ruled out five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake from Sunday’s game at the Cincinnati Bengals because of a knee injury.

Wake, who has 12 tackles and a sack in four games this season, played through the injury during Miami’s 38-7 loss at New England but did not practice this week.

The 6-foot-3, 263-pound Wake has recorded 93 sacks in 10 seasons — the most for any player during that span — and is second all-time among Dolphins to Jason Taylor (131).

Wake could be replaced by Charles Harris, Miami’s first-round pick in the 2017 draft. Harris, 6 feet 3, 250 pounds out of Missouri, would play mostly on third downs as a pass-rushing specialist. Cameron Malveaux was promoted from the practice squad Tuesday and could see action on first and second downs along with Jonathan Woodard.

Malveaux, a 6-5, 224-pound second-year player out of Houston, was involved in five tackles and recorded a sack in four games with the Dolphins in 2017.

Woodard is a 6-6, 271-pound rookie out of Central Arkansas who was involved in four tackles against New England in his only action.

William Hayes is on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury two weeks ago versus Oakland while fellow defensive end Andre Branch is questionable Sunday because of a knee injury.
