Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will be back in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Tannehill, who has missed the past five games with a right shoulder injury, practiced on Tuesday, and head coach Adam Gase announced afterward that Tannehill will return on Sunday.
According to multiple reports by those who witnessed the open portion of Tuesday’s practice, Tannehill threw the ball well.
Tannehill has not informed Gase that he is experiencing any pain in his shoulder, and Gase was pleased with the quarterback’s showing during practice.
Tannehill made “all the throws he needed to make” during practice, Gase said, according to the Miami Herald.
The Dolphins went 2-3 with Brock Osweiler in the starting lineup in place of Tannehill, and they were 3-2 in games started by Tannehill. Last season, Miami went 8-5 in the games Tannehill started. Now in his sixth NFL season, Tannehill has started all 82 games in which he has played for the Dolphins.
Tannehill has completed 65.8 percent of his passes this season with eight touchdown passes and five interceptions. Osweiler has completed 63.5 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and four interceptions this season. Over his past three starts, which included two losses, Osweiler had no touchdown throws and two interceptions.
