Colts WR Hilton practices, status unclear for Monday

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton was set to practice on Thursday for the first time in over two weeks, though it remains unclear if he’ll be ready to play Monday night at New Orleans.

Hilton is recovering from a calf injury that has limited him to just one game since Oct. 27, as he played only 25 snaps on Nov. 21 at Houston. He then had a setback in practice on Nov. 27, and he indicated last week he wasn’t sure he would return this season.

“Obviously, after what happened last time, we’re going to be cautious,” head coach Frank Reich told reporters Thursday. “We’ll monitor him as the week goes on.”

Hilton said Wednesday that he felt “good” and was “doing way better.” He added he planned to play against the Saints if he feels healthy, regardless of how much he practices this week.

“We’re going to protect him from himself, too,” Reich said. “If by chance he’s out there, it’s only going to be because we think he’s 100 percent.”

Hilton, 30, has 35 catches for 378 yards and five touchdowns in seven games this season. He’s averaging career-lows of 10.8 yards per reception and 54.0 yards per game.
